29 votes, 41 comments. true. i just bought a brand new SONY data cable and the controller still will not connect. ive tried everything in the book and it still blinks orange once then refuses to sync with the playstation. im stuck in safe mode so i cant connect to a bluetooth device. im about at my wits end with this thing. not sure why it doesnt work because ive tried everything. Shut down your PS4 controller b y pressing and holding its power button for 5 seconds. Unplug all of the console’s cables for 5 minutes. Unplug the USB cable from the controller. Press and hold the console’s power button for 30 seconds to drain leftover energy. Plug all of the cables back. Connect your controller to the console using a usb cable. On the ps4 home screen, navigate to ā€œsettingsā€ using the controller. Select ā€œdevicesā€ and then choose ā€œcontrollers.ā€. From the available options, select ā€œupdate firmware.ā€. Follow the on-screen prompts to begin the firmware update process. Go to Settings >’ Device’> ā€˜Bluetooth.’. Press share from the first controller and press PS to check if the light is blinking or not. Connect the non-working controller to the console and pair the new one. Press yes to connect a new device.
